What's Happening this Summer!

Welcome to Lynn Krieger's Information Technology Website. This summer we will be embarking on a summer reading project about how personal computing evolved to the object oriented graphic environment used today. The issue will be explored through reading the publication titled "Fumbling the Future: How Xerox Invented, then Ignored, the First Personal Computer" written by Douglas K. Smith and Robert C. Alexander ISBN:978-1583482667. The book cronicles how Xero's Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) was concieved and operated.

In 1973 PARC demonstrated the "Alto", the first "personal computer" designed for a single individual. The technolgy developed at PARC was revolutionary and included a graphic monitor, a pointing device (the mouse), a non expert word-processing program, a local area network, and an object-oriented programming language.

Sadly the Xerox managers did not understand the importance of these developments. Steve Job and Bill Gates did understand and capatilized on the paradigm shit occuring in the computer industry. Read the book and post your reflection on our Summer Reading Blog! See you in August!

Information Technology is one of the programs students can choose to persue at the Clark Advanced Learning Center. Because we are a High School for the Digital Age, all students use state-of-the-art technology every day here.

Many of the Information Technology classes are college classes with college expectations. All students who attend classes here are required to take the High School elective Computer Applications class. The class is rigourus but rewarding. Upon completion of the class students are prepared to use the technonogy required for other classes at the school. There are two industry certifications available to students in the Information Tehnology program. Upon compleation the student can become a Comp TIA A+ Certified IT Technition or a Cisco Certified Network Associate.

This site will outline the online resources, assignments, and general information required for the Information Technology classes.
